Tragedy or Blessing?

Sunday morning at around 7:05 in the morning a large pickup truck ramed my dad's little Miata into my bedroom wall.
I had just woken up and was getting out of bed when I heard tires squealing close to our house.  I thought it was some bar drunk trying to get home after a night of partying...such a thing is normal here.  A few seconds later I herd sqealing tires again and a crash right outside my window.  I will never ever forget the sound of crunching metal, or how slow that half a second went.  I was so sure that I would see a car come crashing through my wall and into my room.
Fear was the understatement of the sentury at that moment.
I ran outside and the first thing I saw was my neighboors running outside and my accross the street neighboor zooming away in his car shouting "Look!"
I looked and this is what I saw but from the other side.  I didn't know whether to scream or pass out so I screamed once and then cried for a while.

So here's the low down.  It is believed that some people stole a large pickup truck and being exited by the horse power or whatever went around the N.E. area of the city, speeding, off-roading, and smashing the occasional car.  An old couple down the street had their old ford pickup smashed just before the bad guys drove down the street toward our house.  I suppose they spotted our car and the temptation was too great, so the reved the engine and smashed into the back of dad's little black car...intentionally.

Our across the street neighboor saw it happen and tried to chase after the truck and get a liscence plate number.  Unfortunately he wasn't able to find it.
The police said that there were a few other cars around the city that had been ramed by a large pickup truck but no one had been able to get a good enough I.D. on the car or the drivers to make any attempt and finding it.

Thankfully dad's car is low enough that the nose only went under the window seat.  The only damage to the house was torn siding.  While dad's car is probably totaled I can't help but be thankful that it was there because if it wasn't the truck would have gone through my bedroom wall and probably have injured my sisters and I.

This is my hair
I know it's crooked...I had to do it myself
I am however very proud of the shades of Luke in it
My lovely blue dress
Oh ya I really am that tall (I'm not even wearing heals)

Here are my adoring little subjects gazing with grate admiration at their saphire princess appearing today without here crown of glittering jewels.

Oh ya did I mention my friends went too?
Don't laugh at thier dresses we all know they look kind of rediculous but to spare thier feelings we wont say anything
(out loud that is)
All in all it was a great prom!  I danced a lot, met some really fun people (guys), and did so much laughing I was sore the next day.
Best part: The vintage 1940-1950s jewlery gave it a fantastic look (borrowed from a freind)
Second hand dress improved by a mastor seemstress (thank you venessa) gave me a great gown
Custom made dancing shoes from New York (also borrowed) gave me my Cinderella slippers
Worst part: No date.  No matter there is one more to go

You here tell of people calling New Mexico the Land of Enchantment...others the Land of Entrapment

alex

okay I've finally gotten around to doing a new post...sorry it took so long.
of course it is Alex's turn to be recognized
Alex came to us almost ten years ago as the third child of the Luke family

He has always been happy

and thoughtful

Admittedly his hair does have a mind of its own...best not to get too close...ever

Dancing is another one of his strong points

At around three he showed the world that he was a ladies man...what with his hot sports car, heavenly looks, and charming demeanor who could resist?

He has always striven to live up to the name of Luke

One day I got tired of him

One of his greater adventures was appendicitis but rest assured he's fine

This is how we knew something was wrong...the swelling was just awful

The sores on his feet are not the plague I promise.  That is a result from going to fast on our go cart

Not only did his abdomen swell but his head suddenly was full of hot air

I can't tell it he was happy to have a new sister or if that face shows mischief blossoming from the fact that he was no longer the yougest...hmmmmmmmmmm

cooooooooooooorrrnnnnnnnnnnnn
yummy

He is going to be in sooooooooo much trouble for this!

DOG PILE!!!!!!!!

Recently he has shown an interest in acrobatics

And here he is a spunky nine year old.
Now Alex is working on his Bear in cub scouts and working hard in third grade.  Hooray for Alex!!!
